About Me

Hi, I’m Esther, the writer behind Roots & Hills—a blog born out of my passion for truth, creativity, and God’s unfailing love.

I grew up in Puerto Rico in a non-Christian home, but one invitation to a Sunday Bible school changed everything. At first, it was the candy and snacks that drew me in—but God was calling my heart. At just 10 years old, I accepted His invitation, and since that amazing day, it’s been a wild but beautiful ride—full of His love, grace, and patience.

Years later, I got married, became a mom to a wonderful daughter, and served in the U.S. Army. Along the way, I earned a Master’s degree in Media Design from Full Sail University, which helped me discover the creative side of ministry I love so much—writing, art, music, drama, and storytelling. In every church I’ve served, I’ve been drawn to the creative departments—the spaces where faith and imagination meet.

Roots & Hills was created to be that same kind of space: where the Church is invited to grow, think critically, heal deeply, and rediscover the beauty of sound doctrine through creativity and truth. Whether you’re navigating confusion, seeking clarity, or simply wanting to go deeper on your journey with our savior Jesus Christ.

When I’m not writing, you can find me spending time with my family, painting, or volunteering as a writer for VA News, where I share stories that uplift and honor Veterans across the country.

Let’s journey together—rooted in God’s breathed word, climbing toward discernment.
